Formosa Danshui Wandering Minstrels, led by Chen Ming-chang, tells stories from the land and sea of Taiwan in their music, with members skilled in various Eastern and Western instruments. The music reflects a spontaneous expression, yet also carries the authentic Taiwanese flavor. With the Nakashi-style troubadour singing, they sing out deep emotions and cultural care for the land.
In addition to the folk-style music, Chen Ming-chang, the band leader, has transformed the pentatonic scale and traditional opera of the East, the Bunun’s eight-part harmony, and more, into a unique tuning for the guitar. Chen Ming-chang’s Taiwanese tuning combines tradition and modernity, developing a world music with a distinctive Eastern flavor.
